This study examines the integration of cybersecurity awareness into higher education institutions in the Dominican Republic, with a focus on aligning technological growth with sustainable development goals. Conducted during the last semester of 2023, the research highlights the critical role of cybersecurity awareness in safeguarding sensitive information and enhancing institutional resilience amidst rapid digital transformation. The findings reveal significant disparities in cybersecurity knowledge among students and staff, emphasizing the need for targeted awareness programs to bridge these gaps. By fostering a culture of cybersecurity, universities can not only protect their digital assets but also contribute to sustainable innovation and global cooperation. This study provides insights and practical recommendations for policymakers and academic leaders to strengthen cybersecurity measures and ensure a secure, sustainable educational environment.
